I’m Free from Chemistry!
This week came with a big lesson learned. I had an advising appointment while gearing up for next semester's registration, and that's when I found out I actually had AP credit from high school that covered the chemistry class I've been taking all semester. I had no idea. I'd already sat through two of the four midterms before anyone caught it.
Honestly, it was frustrating at first. I put in a real amount of work for a class I didn't even need to be in. But the more I sat with it, the more I decided to just be grateful. That class was easily 50% of my homework load every single week, so dropping it this late in the semester still feels like a massive relief. I'm calling it a late birthday present and I'm standing by that.
Looking ahead, the rest of the semester is going to feel noticeably lighter. More time to focus on the classes that actually matter for my path, more bandwidth to prepare well for finals, and honestly just less stress day to day. It's amazing how much one class was quietly taking up. You don't always realize how much weight you're carrying until something lifts it.
The lesson I'm taking away from this is a simple one. If you're heading into college or already there, take the time to figure out every credit you can bring in from high school. AP classes, dual enrollment, whatever you have. Check before you register, not after you've already taken two midterms. I learned that the hard way so you don't have to. But all things considered, I'm just glad to be free.
Until next week, I'm praying for you,
James
